The SHO Cooling System is a fairly trouble free system with
the exception of a couple of items which need attention
normally around 80K, the radiator, the hoses, and the water
pump. The radiator is an aluminum fin, plastic housing unit.
Differential expansion and contraction at the fin-to-tank
joints can cause leaking over time. You will notice it over
night as the car sits and goes through a hot-to-cold cycle.
A small amount of coolant will have leaked out by morning.
In some cases the radiators can be repaired, but in many
cases it is just as easy to replace them.
The SHO water pump is not particularly troublesome either,
with the exception of when it must be replaced. This is
normally done during a 60K since access to the water pump is
made easy by the removal of the covers and belts on the
passenger side of the engine.
See other 60K maintenance items as appropriate.
